Market Report - April 2025

The Market in April

Global sugar prices weakened throughout April, with the uncertainty surrounding US tariff policies creating significant downward momentum in early April. The market ended the month at fresh 3-month lows ahead of the May contract expiry. During April, CS Brazil mills commenced their 2025/26 harvest operations, while India’s production has tailed off. In contrast to sugar’s performance, the FAO Food Price Index reached a 2-year high.
